Learn and Earn Part II

In the age we’re living in, everything has become so easy and fast to get. Take for example Uber, 10 years ago who would have imagined that it would be so easy to move from point A to B simply by having an app in your phone that allows you to get your cab in minutes? It’s amazing what  innovation in technology can change  how we move. It’s about time this happened to earning an income.

If you want to earn let’s  say Ksh 10,000 (Tzs 200,000/ $100) you should be able to learn the specific skill that can help you do just that. Without taking several classes all you need is your phone and bundles to learn how.

We basically teach you to make name bracelets, a product that is popular and easy to make.

We have found success with our training teachinggirls like Monica and we want to make the simple training available to as many people as possible. This is a proven way to earn. Monica here shares her experience.

Making money is not as hard as you think  if you are willing to learn new things. Get started NOW

Apparently, one of the most searched topics on google is Jobs in Kenya. This isn’t a surprise but really what people are looking for is how to get paid. Are there enough jobs in Kenya to pay everybody? With jobs sites like Myjobskenya and Brighter Monday posting a handful new  jobs in Kenya every day, I don’t know if there are really that many jobs in Kenya. I think there are several opportunities that do not include jobs because Kenya’s  economy is growing. These opportunities are not found in jobs but they’re found where the money is flowing which may not necessarily be in employment but rather in the economy where money is changing hands.Fromour experience,we just want to shorten that whole experience of looking for a job in Kenya to learning a skill and getting paid without anyone hiring you.
We basically teach you to make name bracelets, a product that is popular and easy to make. Getting a job in Kenya is not the only way to earn 30,000per month. Learn a skill and if you’re not living in an island you have a chance making something out of this creative skill.

Big plans

Growing a business is the easiest thing if you are a millionaire. That's a myth. I don't believe growing a business is easier when you have money because you can't force a bad product on people no matter how much money you have. However, it helps when you do have the funding to try out different ideas until you figure out what works. Having said that, it's great to be in a place where you have tested various ideas and you just need to improve on the  ideas that work. That is why, I am asking you to give Mdada that chance to expand. We focus on selling personalized jewellery. However, we have from time to time trained students on entrepreneurship which is something we want to focus on in the coming weeks. Currently, we're getting more opportunities to sell our products and we need help. Here's what we as Mdada need:

  1. Upgrade our stands. A better display=more visibility=more sales. That will cost us $2550
  2. E-commerce website. Our target market don't have time, they want convenience at a click of a button. That will cost us $1800
  3.  Better materials. We definitely to upgrade our merchandise. We can offer better products at a higher price= more sales $1200
  4. Registration: Clearly, we need to act like a serious business by first registering it as a company. We need only $230
  5. Spreading the word is as important as anything else. Social media is definitely the best place for us to reach our clients. $1000 is what we'll spend
  6. Help: Everyone needs help. An assistant to help set up everything would cost about $300.
In total we require: $7080
Currently collecting donations via our PayPal account-lilakiwelu@gmail.com .

You can buy our bracelets to support our work in our Jumia shop

Then we have this BIG idea to take our training side of the business to training institutions. Currently, we think an app/site where students can access our training for a small fee of $1  a month seems like a good idea. We're targeting 500,000 students in Kenya. It's Time to Scale!

Super excited about the new business opportunities to scale our work.

New spaces in new malls, partnerships with the government, greater grants coming our way, learning new things through online courses.....

This year it's going to be lit!

Helping 10,000 women earn is not a dream anymore.

Stay blessed.

Christmas for us is about being grateful

(a sample of the bracelet we gifted our donors at The Pollination Project)

Christmas for us is a time to be thankful. Thankful for everything that has happened to us, the good and bad because even the bible says in everything give thanks.

Here goes our gratitude list:
  1. Jesus. Thank you for looking out for Mdada even when we don't know it.
  2. The rejection by a couple of outlets to retail our merchandise.
  3. The space we got to sell our bracelets at Yaya.
  4. The new girls we helped earn money. Nicole, one of our girls made Ksh 9650/- after we trained her!BOOM #winning #power. Our student here warms our heart with her testimonial.
  5. Our new and returning customers. We 💗 our customers.
  6. The markets we participated in. The flops like NFM and the successes like The Hub's Christmas Fair.
  7. Our new cool office space.
  8. Our partnerships with major companies (not saying the names because I want to surprise our fans, big things coming in 2017)
  9. The support of The Pollination Project. We were delighted to give gifts to the people who believed in us when we started.
  10. The rejection for support from accelerators we've been a part of.
  11. Our friends and family who've been a beacon of strength. (special s/o to my sisters Aina & Mainda, bro AK4Saba and my friends Willie and Linda who are part of the Mdada team.)
  12. The jam by Nyashinski 'Mungu Pekee'. It literally sums up our attitude this entire year. Please listen to it here
What are you grateful for this Christmas?

Have a merry one.

Bless,
Lila
